Max for Sundering?
Hey Guys, I have 2 questions:
What hilt is best for a sword?
In a sundering hilt, your sword has +10% armor penetration, but it only happens x% of the time (such as +10% armor penetration chance: 9%). However, my question is what is the highest percent the chance can go up to?
thanks for helping!

The highest percent is 10% for Sundering. However, I'd suggest using something else for a sword hilt. Vampiric is quite good (even better if you carry Mending). You could also use a utility hilt like Barbed or Cruel hilts.

In my skills though, I don't have deep wound or even sever artery. Those hilts won't do anything if I don't have those skills equipped. But the vampric might not be such a bad idea (with mending of course). But, my glad. defence's effectiveness would go down, What do you think I should do?

Well, if you do use severe artery, gash, and final thrust ( these are mostly common used sword skills) then i would prefer using a furious sword hilt, and balthazars spirit. Btw you don't always need to use Glad's def, for me it depends on what im farming. (or doing a quest)

It is nice to have a couple of different setups, a like a collector stance sword
with a zealous hilt, and +5 defense, very versatile, I have not tried a vampiric
hilt yet, running that with hundred blades could be good.

Vampiric is the best for damage, with possibly an elemental damage on an alternate sword. If you're lvl 20, you'll want to use a +5 defense sword pommel. It reduces damage recieved by about 8.5%, so if you've got over 353 hit points, +5 defense is as good as +30hp and actually better because heals are more effective. Vampiric doesn't really benefit you health wise unless you have attack speed increase or multi-hit capability. I like to carry an ele hilt of some type for going against enemy's w/ +x to physical damage. Just my $0.02.

Zealous is good, don't waste money on a vamp unless it is 5/1, anything less won't make up for the health degen or the regen loss. I would say for solo farming probably zealous and enchanting. Elementals are really good if you plan on carring mulitple weapons, ie attacking Kytra fire imps with a fire weapon, not a good idea.
Vamps can be good for multi attacks everytime you hit somthing - health + the damage the weapon causes guarenteed, sundery at best it is 1 out of 10, and a vamp ungrade is usually half the price of the equivalent in sundery.

Swords and Axes only go up to 3/1 for Vampiric, unlike Hammers and Bows which can have 5/1.

I stand corrected, I never liked vamp much, I once had a vamp axe that I chucked, and have just found the joys of a vamp bow.
Now I love my barb sword for my warrior. Hit a guy with sever and deep gash and move on, just let him bleed to death. I have thought about a furious sword but is double adrenelin X% chance worth it?

Yeah, I think I'll go with the barbed sword. I can easily fit in sever artery into my collection of skills. Plus, if I did do that my opponent would bleed for 26 seconds. Thats alot. I don't think the furious is worth it, it only saves you 1 extra hit. I like the idea of a vampiric hilt, but I do not want to change from tactics to healing prayers because of my shield (and my rely on glad. defence and healing sig.). Thank you all for helping!

The only good sword mods are Zealous and Vampiric. Sundering is Horrible.
Furious is 1adrenaline in 10 hits whereas Vampiric is 30 damage.
3/1 Mods make up for the health lost, and even if they didn't, who cares? You're supposed to be doing damage, not healing yourself.

fine, I'll try the vampiric, but I will have to change some skills around. By the way, how much would a 3/1 vampiric hilt cost?
